Low-impact
Arthritic patients aren’t the only ones who need to worry about joint health. Cardiovascular activities such as running and Zumba are notably high impact, which could result in injuries. “When you do an exercise on land, like jogging, you get an impact on your joints,” Torben Hersborg, an osteopath from the Central London Osteopathy and Sports Injury Clinic, explained to The Daily Mail. “But when you exercise in the water, you don’t have any gravity forcing your body weight down onto your joints.” In fact, the paper reports that the buoyancy of the water can reduce joint impact by 85 percent. Increased flexibility
While exercising on land, your body movements are restricted by the effects of gravity and the fear of falling. When in water, you can let go of these worries. You can fearlessly increase your range of motion, exerting muscles that you would not otherwise be able to exert outside water.

In a study on patients with osteoarthritis, aquatic exercises were seen to significantly improve knee and hip flexibility without any side effects. In another study, patients with a degenerative spinal condition too enjoyed improved flexibility and a greater range of motion after participating in an aquatic exercise program. Burn more calories
The Aquatic Exercise Association reports that you can expect to burn 400 to 500 calories per hour when exercising in the water. Additionally, water offers 12 times the resistance of air, which helps to improve muscle strength.  Simple devices such as hand-held paddles, foam noodles and rings, and kickboards can add further resistance to increase the intensity of an aquatic workout.
