Fun Indoor Winter Activities You Can Do With Your Kid

  • by

The kids may love Elsa and Anna from Frozen, but even they don’t have enough power to keep the little ones from getting bored during winter. Create fun activities that will encourage your child to move around and fight the winter blues away. Here are some ideas to help you out:

Build a cardboard playhouse
Pick up a large refrigerator box from a local builder, furniture store, or other wholesale distribution warehouse (often they are happy to give away big boxes). Tape one end shut and reinforce the sides with duct tape, then help your child cut a door and windows. Encourage your child to add control panels using things you have around your house, such as string, bottle caps, toilet paper rolls, or other recyclables. Source: WashingtonPost

Have an indoor picnic
After the indoor snowball fight, the kids will want to warm up with some hot cocoa. Throw a white blanket on the floor and sprinkle it with cotton balls. Place it near your fireplace or build a faux fire and place it in the middle of the blanket. Brew up a pot of hot cocoa, serve it with cookies or marshmallows, and let the kids gather on the floor for a warm winter picnic.  Source: TheSpruce

Decorate the house
With the advent of winters, every kid looks forward to Christmas and New Years. So let your kid soak in some festive spirit and let him help you with the festive decorations.

What Your Kid Needs

  • Christmas decorations available in the market
  • Lights
  • Candles
  • Flowers

How to

  • Let your kid help you in placing Christmas tree decorations.
  • You can ask your kid to place candles and flowers at various places in the house.
  • You can also ask your kid to make his own Christmas tree decorations using coloured papers, glitters and other things.
  • You may also ask for your kid’s assistance in placing lights. Source: FirstCry

Of course, it’s not just the kids who need to have fun during the winter. After a long day of work and play, you need to relax and soak all your troubles away. If they’re older than five, you can even let the kids play in the water for a few minutes, given that you’ve lowered the temperature for them. Get a hot tub today!
